Edgar Tan Sy of Rotary Club of Bacolod is an Electrical Engineer by profession but became a successful businessman in a field far from his profession. Among his business are the ES Marketing, a sugar trading company and the O Hotel. He is married to Naty Ong Sy and they have three (3) children, namely John Oliver Sy, Master Matthew and Natalia Joy.

Rotarian Edgar’s life has been marked by volunteerism. He is presently the first vice president of Bacolod Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Director of Philippine National Red Cross. He was the President of the Federation of Sugar Traders from 2000-2003.

On his Rotary life, he was accepted as member of Rotary Club of Bacolod (Mother Club) in 1988 but become very active in 1944. He held various club positions from 1994-2008 and was elected President in Rotary Year 1999-2000. In the district, he served in various capacities as Assistant Governor, Chairman in Annual Gift Giving, Rotex and Rotary Youth Exchange among others. He never missed attending the District Conference since 1995 and several district trainings and events in the District. And avid believer and supporter of the Rotary foundation, he is a Major Paul Harris Fellow as well as seven (7) members of his non-Rotarian family.
