Rotary Club: Bacolod Central
Classification: Water Service
Years in Rotary: 12 years

Why did you decide to join Rotary?

I decided to join Rotary: to gain new friends, to represent my company, the Bacolod City Water District and commune with opinion makers and leaders, and, to participate in what Rotarians do to serve mankind.

What is the highest point of your service to Rotary, so far?

I am a past president and now Assistant Governor to DG Ems Nava. I have always been active in community service and in dance presentations during inductions, conferences and conventions.

Who is your greatest influence, either philosophically or career-wise, and how do they influence you?

St.Therese of Lisieux. She taught me about loving God and others in my own little way and wherever I am situated. Her life story showed me what pleasing sacrifice is all about. She made me believe that God showers us with roses all the days of our lives. Her philosophy helped me in my work as a public servant, and in my social and family life.

When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a doctor but my father had no means to send me to medical school.

What is your fantasy career?

I have always wanted to be an actress in a comedy role or a headliner in Las Vegas, U.S.A.

Do you have a motto? What is it?

Yes. We are here in this world to make life less difficult for others.

If you were granted three wishes, what would they be?

I wish for a happy and peaceful death. I wish for a happy, healthy, peaceful and abundant life for my daughter. I wish to be always in love with life until I die.

What changes have you seen in Rotary since you first joined?

The Rotary life in District 3850 is more dynamic now and quite unconventional which makes it more exciting. I also see that the projects of clubs are more responsive to the needs of the community where the clubs belong.

What aspects of serving Rotary bring you most joy?

Doing community service work gives me a natural high. Great to see the life of one person changed for the better. The smiles of beneficiaries when we give them something or when we help them, gives me a deep sense of fulfillment.

What do you do for leisure (hobbies/sports)?

I am always fascinated with beadwork and needlecraft. I put beads on bags and dresses when I am stressed out. Lately, I discovered the joy of cooking.

What's your favorite holiday destination?

A week-long holiday in a nice quiet beach. Paradise! Salt is a cure for everything - tears, sweat and the beach, as a writer once said. I love the sun, the sea, the sky.

What is your favorite Book?

The House of Spirits by Isabel Allende

What is your favorite Movie?

The Count of Monte Cristo.

When you have gone, for what do you want to be remembered?

Julie Ann, the beautiful, well loved, jolly water girl. I will have this written in my epitaph.
